Pat,s column has all the truths from many years ago. This idea of creating a new Middle East, although presented to us as a new idea has been around for years. Every government since Truman has wrangled with the problem of Israel and it's surrounding Arab/ Islamist neighbors. The fundamentals have not changed, only the rhetoric from outside partners. such as the US and Britain.
I do believe that Israel has a right to defend itself, it is a sovereign nation and as such has a right to live in piece. I also believe that the US is using Israel as a Chess piece to be moved when WE feel it is necessary. This whole conflict is being sold to us as something that came up because of two Israeli soldiers being kidnapped.. ROTFLMAO!!! Hysterical.. Members of the military and soldiers of every nation have been and always will be expendable at the will of the governments involved. (I was one for over 22 years). Their capture is being used as an excuse (have you heard from anyone lately re: them?) to weaken the Hezbollah branch of the Lebanese government and ease the resistance of surrounding countries concerning the new oil pipeline now getting ready to be opened bypassing Syria, Iran, Russia, and allowing the Israeli military to take the responsibility for protecting it (Under the auspices of the US).
The amount of destruction being rained down on Lebanon is excessive and meant to destroy the infrastructure of Lebanon to the point that it will need to ask for aid from foreign Countries to rebuild. This is just another way to bring Lebanon under the control of outside sources. I.E. You obey and we'll send the $$$.
The Us is a great country and i would not want to have to live anywhere else, but i fear we are creating another generation of "Terrorists" who will fight to avenge their brothers and sisters who have died during this latest "test" of Middle East policy. The Neo-Cons in the US, Rummy, Wolfy, Cheney, et. al. have been working to bring this whole debacle on for over thirty
years. I fear they have succeeded. God Bless America!!!
